Use Massage Carrier Oils to Enhance Your
Massage
Massage carrier oils or base
oils are the oils that are used to dilute the essential oils used
for body massage purposes. They are named as carrier oils as they
carry the essential oils used while massaging the body. Carrier
oils will not have any specific aroma like essential oils. They
also do not evaporate like essential oils.
The essential oils used for the purpose
of massaging will normally be too strong to be used in an undiluted
form. They can only be used by mixing with other oils or creams.
Massage carrier oils act as a perfect medium for carrying these
oils to the body.
These carrier
oils are also useful in providing necessary lubrication to allow
the hands to be moved freely on the skin while massaging. If not
mixed with these oils, the massager will only be able to drag his
hand on the skin.
The oils to be used as the carrier of
the essential oils should be non-sticky and light to make the
massage effective and enjoyable for the person undergoing the
massage therapy.
Cold pressed vegetable oils are the most
commonly used carrier oils for massaging purposes. Cold pressed oil
will last longer when compared to the oils that are subjected to
excessive amount of heating and processing.
The basic oils can be used alone or in
combination in massaging the body. The different types of massage
carrier oils used for the purpose include sweet almond oil, grape
seed oil, avocado, olive oil, evening prim rose oil, jojoba oil,
emu oil and sunflower oil.
Apart from these oils, oils from
nuts such as walnut, peanut, pecan and fractionated coconut oils
also are use as carrier oils in massaging the body. Amongst these,
oils sweet almond oil and grape-seed oil are the most commonly used
ones to carry the essential oils while massaging the
body.
Carrier oils that contain
vitamins, minerals and fatty acids have a crucial role to play in
improving the condition and quality of the skin. Some of these oils
are found to be very effective in curing skin conditions such as
eczema and in reducing the wrinkles and scar tissues that appear on
the skin.
Unrefined oils are known as the best
oils to be used as massage carrier oils. Though expensive, cold
pressed oils from the nuts and seeds are found to be more effective
than the oils exposed to heat during the extraction
process.
The cold pressed massage carrier
oils are found to be rich in vitamins, minerals and fatty acids are
good to improve the texture and quality of the skin of the person
undergoing massage therapy.
